Rockstar Tai Chi
Why Rockstar Tai Chi? I am a professional musician who began practicing Tai Chi to improve my health. I make no claim to being a master or Chinese lineage holder but I have had great teachers who are. My strength lies in a long experience of teaching beginners and skillfully explaining the basics in a fun and healthy way. I care about my students, your health and happiness are important to me. My grandmaster once said to me, “I know you suffer from your injuries and you worry that your skill is not enough- but you have a good heart and the people will see this.”
I have been lucky to have great teachers and I have great partner teachers who draw from a wide range of disciplines from Yoga to MMA, Bagua Zhang, staff and sword fighting etc. We all share a similar philosophy- we want you to feel great, learn how to move your body more efficiently AND have fun while doing it!
Taiji (tai chi), short for Tai ji quan, or T'ai chi ch'üan (pinyin: tàijíquán; 太极拳), is an internal Chinese martial art practiced for both its defense training, its health benefits and meditation. The term taiji refers to a philosophy of the forces of yin and yang, related to the moves. Though originally conceived as a martial art, it is also typically practiced for a variety of other personal reasons: competitive wrestling in the format of pushing hands (tui shou), demonstration competitions and achieving greater longevity. As a result, a multitude of training forms exist, both traditional and modern, which correspond to those aims with differing emphasis. Some training forms of tàijíquán are especially known for being practiced with relatively slow movements.
