Why Rockstar Tai Chi? I am a professional musician who began practicing Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Yoga, and Pilates to improve my health. I make no claim to being a master or Chinese lineage holder but I have had great teachers who are. My strength lies in a long experience of personal injuries and teaching beginners like me the basics in a fun and healthy way. I care about my students, your health and happiness are important to me. My grandmaster once said to me, “I know you suffer from your injuries and you worry that your skill is not enough- but you have a good heart and the people will see this.”

In 2020 I had to have several colorectal surgeries and was diagnosed with an auto-immune disease. I also injured my foot and ankle and thus began a very challenging few years mostly bedridden. I sought out many different forms of therapy and found that modern Pilates had a real positive result for me. I am trained in the Stott style of Pilates which I feel is more similar to an active physical therapy class- and better than the PT I was getting through my health insurance.. Learning how to correctly recruit and pattern the right muscles to fire at the right time, building more proprioception, and slowly building strength is the way to practice- and I’ve had incredible results. I'm very excited to have added this to my practice, and I specialize in working with people who have injuries. The Pilates and Tai Chi are great companion practices.

I have been lucky to have great teachers and I have great partner teachers who draw from a wide range of disciplines from Pilates/PT, Functional Medicine, Yoga, MMA, Bagua Zhang, staff and sword fighting etc. We all share a similar philosophy- we want you to feel great, learn how to move your body more efficiently AND have fun while doing it!

Taiji (tai chi), short for Tai ji quan, or T'ai chi ch'üan (pinyin: tàijíquán; 太极拳), is an internal Chinese martial art practiced for both its defense training, its health benefits and meditation. The term taiji refers to a philosophy of the forces of yin and yang, related to the moves. Though originally conceived as a martial art, it is also typically practiced for a variety of other personal reasons: competitive wrestling in the format of pushing hands (tui shou), demonstration competitions and achieving greater longevity. As a result, a multitude of training forms exist, both traditional and modern, which correspond to those aims with differing emphasis. Some training forms of tàijíquán are especially known for being practiced with relatively slow movements.

Stott Pilates is a contemporary Pilates method that focuses on restoring the spine's natural curvature and improving posture. It's designed to help people develop flexibility, strength, and endurance without putting too much stress on their joints
